Salt fog testing is a method of determining
where corrosion or oxidizing will occur when a product is subjected to a
corrosive atmosphere. This type of testing is used to evaluate products in
an accelerated manner to investigate corrosion related issues.
Commonly Tested Items:
- Road Guard Rails
- Automotive Parts
- Parts Associated with Ocean
Vehicle
- Paints and Primers
- Coating and Rust Inhibitors
The most common standard we test to is the ASTM B 117. This
method saturates a product in a pH of around 6.5 to 7.2. We
also test to ASTM D 1141 which uses a salt solution with a pH
of approximately 8.2. This method is used to determine where
weak points will occur when components are subjected to ocean
water. We also test to various military standards.
This testing is performed at different MGA test facilities
across the country. If you require more information or would
like to schedule testing, please feel free to contact Michael
